( from artist's site ) - I play trombone, harp, bagpipes, and ukulele in a lot of unlikely situations. Teach and compose some, too. Conduct a killer Ukulele Orchestra. Somehow, I kind of make a living at it.

( from artist's site ) - There is a mystical detour along the road of American Roots Music, right before genres had drawn lines in the sand proclaiming this to be "bluegrass" or that to be "honky-tonk". The lines were imposed during the advance of technology with the likes of 78 record players and radio coming into fashion. It was a great melting pot of swing, blues, jazz, and old-time country where all manner of musicians would simply play popular music, seemingly without apology or without being hemmed in by commercial restriction. You would hear rural outfits playing their own version of jazz or polished urban swing bands performing rustic mountain music. County by county, region by region, state by state, music would adapt, shift and morph to take on the fabric of its surroundings.

( from Alster Entertainment's site ) - Moe Dixon grew up in western Massachusetts. His first instrument was the cello, and he started playing guitar at the age of seven. In his youth, the Berkshire Mtns of Mass. were a mecca for good musicians and songwriters, so it was easy to be around some of the best performers in the country.

J. (John) Chalmers Doane

(except from The Canadian Encyclopedia ) During Doane's tenure as supervisor of music for the Halifax School Board (1967-84), he changed school music programs dramatically, using the ukulele as an inexpensive and practical teaching instrument for children and adults. His unconventional approach, vindicated by the success of Halifax school bands and orchestras in concerts and competitions across Canada, has produced a model of public music education worthy of study by educational jurisdictions elsewhere. In 1984 Doane became associate professor at Nova Scotia Teachers College. He is much in demand as a consultant and leader of workshops across Canada and in the USA.

A GREAT collection of ukulele TABS from "Dominator" aka Dominic Pieranunzio are available on his site.

(from Dominator's site ) A little about me: Primarily a self taught guitarist, pursuing the ukulele for approximately six years, I have spent the last couple of years concentrating on the ukulele. Not being able to find tablature for the ukulele in the same quality and format as was (and still is) available for the guitar is the motivation behind this site. Since books containing ukulele tab were not available, I decided I would try to transcribe the songs myself and make them available for others to learn from as well.
