Wolf Marshall is a unique hybrid. He is internationally acclaimed as both a guitarist and a celebrity educator. Through his many products, Wolf has gained an enormous worldwide following and status usually accorded only to "famed players" in "name bands," and has been listened to on his releases by more aspiring fretboard enthusiasts than most so-called guitar heroes.
Wolf has been rightfully nicknamed the "Rich Little of Guitar." He is the leading impressionist in the industry; emulating, on record, the styles of the greats with unerring accuracy. And not only does he perform the most challenging licks and tricks of players like Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Johnson, Jeff Beck, Eddie Van Halen, Eric Clapton, and countless others on his best-selling book/CD packages, but he explains and demonstrates their special techniques and approaches to legions of guitar students and fans globally.
When the anesthesia wore off, Pat Martino looked up hazily at his parents and his doctors. and tried to piece together any memory of his life.
One of the greatest guitarists in jazz. Martino had suffered a severe brain aneurysm and underwent surgery after being told that his condition could be terminal. After his operations he could remember almost nothing. He barely recognized his parents. and had no memory of his guitar or his career. He remembers feeling as if he had been "dropped cold, empty, neutral, cleansed...naked."
In the following months. Martino made a remarkable recovery. Through intensive study of his own historic recordings, and with the help of computer technology, Pat managed to reverse his memory loss and return to form on his instrument. His past recordings eventually became "an old friend, a spiritual experience which remained beautiful and honest." This recovery fits in perfectly with Pat's illustrious personal history. Since playing his first notes while still in his pre-teenage years, Martino has been recognized as one of the most exciting and virtuosic guitarists in jazz. With a distinctive, fat sound and gut-wrenching performances, he represents the best not just in jazz, but in music. He embodies thoughtful energy and soul.
Born Pat Azzara in Philadelphia in 1944, ha was first exposed to jazz through his father, Carmen "Mickey" Azzara, who sang in local clubs and briefly studied guitar with Eddie Lang. He took Pat to all the city's hot-spots to hear and meet Wes Montgomery and other musical giants. "I have always admired my father and have wanted to impress him. As a result, it forced me to get serious with my creative powers."
He began playing guitar when he was twelve years old. and left school in tenth grade to devote himself to music. During Visits to his music teacher Dennis Sandole, Pat often ran into another gifted student, John Coltrane, who would treat the youngster to hot chocolate as they talked about music.

(from artist's site) - I like to I think of myself as an extremely versatile guitarist. I first got interested in music when I was 14 years old. I had a good friend by the name of Jimmy Fisher who played the guitar. He suggested I buy a Bass Guitar so that I could join his band so I did. I played Bass for a short time and then switched to the Drums. All through my high school years I had mainly played the Drums. Although I was never that good, playing the drums was my life until one day when my friend Chuck asked me to go to a concert to see Joe Satriani. At the time I had never heard of Joe Satriani or had heard any of his music. The night of the concert came and I was so blown away by Satriani's guitar playing I sold my drums the next day and bought a guitar. I became obsessed with the guitar right away and it just took over my life!
Scott McDevitt was born just outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1972.He grew up in Malvern, PA and attended Penn State University at the age of eighteen.
After graduating with a BS in Civil Engineering in 1995, Scott moved west to Portland, Oregon to seek a new way of life. He worked as a Geotechnical (Soil) Engineer in Portland for seven years, obtaining a professional engineering license and a Masters Degree.
Scott began playing guitar at the age of 15, concentrating on 60's and 70's rock and folk music. In college he helped form and played lead guitar in the Greenfield County Fair, which covered bands like the Grateful Dead and Rolling Stones. During this time, he was introduced to the music of John Coltrane, Miles Davis, and Charlie Parker. This sparked a taste for jazz that flourished and developed over the following years. Looking for a new challenge, Scott began to study jazz guitar in his free time with some private teachers in the Portland area. He found that learning the jazz language was not a part time endeavor. In 2002, he left his engineering job to formally study jazz at Portland State University under pianist Darrell Grant and guitarist Jerry Hahn.
In 2004, Scott left PSU with a better understanding of music and a firm jazz foundation. He helped form two groups, the High Tone Jazz Guitar Duo, and the Urban Quartet, which currently perform regularly at clubs, restaurants, and private parties around the Portland area. In addition to his performance schedule, Scott also teaches private guitar lessons at Artihoke Music in Portland.
Pat Metheny was born in Kansas City on August 12, 1954 into a musical family. Starting on trumpet at the age of 8, Metheny switched to guitar at age 12. By the age of 15, he was working regularly with the best jazz musicians in Kansas City, receiving valuable on-the-bandstand experience at an unusually young age. Metheny first burst onto the international jazz scene in 1974. Over the course of his three-year stint with vibraphone great Gary Burton, the young Missouri native already displayed his soon-to-become trademarked playing style, which blended the loose and flexible articulation customarily reserved for horn players with an advanced rhythmic and harmonic sensibility - a way of playing and improvising that was modern in conception but grounded deeply in the jazz tradition of melody, swing, and the blues. With the release of his first album, Bright Size Life (1975), he reinvented the traditional "jazz guitar" sound for a new generation of players. Throughout his career, Pat Metheny has continued to re-define the genre by utilizing new technology and constantly working to evolve the improvisational and sonic potential of his instrument.
Metheny's versatility is almost nearly without peer on any instrument. Over the years, he has performed with artists as diverse as Steve Reich to Ornette Coleman to Herbie Hancock to Jim Hall to Milton Nascimento to David Bowie. He has been part of a writing team with keyboardist Lyle Mays for more than twenty years - an association that has been compared to the Lennon/McCartney and Ellington/Strayhorn partnerships by critics and listeners alike. Metheny's body of work includes compositions for solo guitar, small ensembles, electric and acoustic instruments, large orchestras, and ballet pieces, with settings ranging from modern jazz to rock to classical.

"The first time I worked with Wes was for a recording session at the Tsubo Club on San Francisco Bay. We played, just like we'd play in a club, with an audience, like crazy, with no other idea than to take off musically." - Johnny Griffin
Has to be considered one of the top three, if not top, jazz guitarists of this century. No guitarist that has come after Wes has not been influenced by him one way or the other.

He began playing guitar when he was 11, first learning to emulate the playing of BB King. Later he played in school bands and was part of R&B and Jazz bands. Through the support of his family members he kept faith with his music.
