(from artist's site) Jon Delaney is a freelance guitarist, composer and teacher from Melbourne, Australia. He performs regularly with his own band, "The Jon Delaney Trio" and in many other contexts, with some of the foremost talents on the Melbourne improvised music scene.
Jon's musical development began while he was ostensibly studying philosophy and literature at Monash University, playing rock guitar and bass in pubs, clubs, and friend's living rooms and doing serious diservice to Descartes and Shelley. Taking a year off after graduation to practice and catch up on reading, he was accepted into the Victorian College of the Arts in 1998, from which he emerged some years later with Bachelor (hons) and Master of Music Performance degrees (he has also taken part in the Banff Workshop in Jazz and Creative Music (2006), a 3-week ferment of creativity and discovery in the Canadian Rockies).

(from artist's site regarding his CD Evolution) - In Woody Allens' jazz documentary, Wild Man Blues, he tells an interviewer that like directors Sydney Pollock and Steven Spielberg he likes to make the kind of movie that he enjoyed as a young kid. Well, I guess that I have done a similar thing here on this recording.
Growing up as I did, in the Bronx, in a culturally diverse neighborhood during the late sixties and early seventies some of the sounds that impacted my musical "Evolution" were R & B in general and Stevie Wonder specifically.

(from artist's site) - From swing to hard bop with a little bit of the Mississippi Delta thrown in, Mike DiBari embraces the many sounds of classic jazz and blues guitar. When one hears Mike play the blues, you just can't help getting that low down feeling. His original compositions align bebop with a dash of the contemporary but still swing like crazy. Worcester Magazine's Noah Schaffer said, "DiBari always hits the mark regardless of whether he's shooting from the hip on hard blues, plucking out delicate lines on a ballad, or keeping the groove on an upbeat jump tune." While onstage his solos command attention but to the scene at large Mike may very well be one of Boston's best kept secrets.
