( from listing's site ) - A native of Oxfordshire, England, Andrew worked at the Lawrence Berkeley Research Labs before deciding to follow my passion for building stringed instruments. Andrew studied at the Welsh School of Violin Making and Repair, near Cardiff. After graduating Andrew joined the restoration workshops of Bein and Fushi in Chicago to apprentice under the guidance of master cello restorer, Russell Wagner. In 1996 Andrew opened my own workshop in Santa Rosa, California , providing restoration services to the violin trade. Regular clients include some of the world's leading violin dealers. These days Andrew spends most all of my time building new instruments. My violins, violas and cellos are played by professional and amateur musicians across the US and in Europe.

(from the Fleishman Instruments web site ) From a very early age Harry was inspired and obsessed with music and art, if you can call surf music music, and model cars art. He loved fixing things, even when it meant breaking them first. By the time he was 14, he was playing in bands and doing some recording as a backup guitarist for singers. Through the sixties, Harry played with the Mugwumps and later with the Drifters, the Soul Brothers and other soul bands. For a while during the late ‘60s he was an in-house songwriter for Criterion Music Co. in Hollywood. After threatening to punch a producer (for intimidating a singer who was recording one of his songs), which he obviously was too big a wimp to actually do, he was fired and Jackson Browne took his place. Really. Think of it--Jackson Browne.

Jimmy Foster has been practicing the luthier’s art for over 30 years. Just as importantly, he’s been playing guitar for over 35 years – a rarity among guitar builders.
It’s this player’s perspective, plus his commitment to perfection, that defines the character of each and every Foster Guitar.
Jimmy’s early musical idols were artists such as Chet Atkins, Les Paul, and Tony Mottola. As his talents developed, Jimmy’s taste turned toward the jazz influences of players like Howard Roberts, Johnny Smith, and George Van Eps, the legendary 7-string jazz guitar player.
An “everyday man” Jimmy loves to talk to his customers and welcomes their input into the building of their custom instrument.

( from the Kragenbrink Guitars site ) - Since the age of 15 I have been captivated by the "guitar." I have had a long and winding history with them – from playing in rock bands throughout the 80’s to recording in the 90's, and now, ultimately to building them one by one.
I have developed a deep appreciation and love for this instrument. The craftsmanship that goes into a fine guitar, the rich history and tradition behind modern instruments, and the special connection that exists between the player and his (or her) instrument is something magical that inspires me.
I build each guitar in my comfortable home studio in Vandercook Lake Michigan, and I have had the privilege to build instruments for a number of wonderful guitar players across this country – people who are clearly as infatuated by guitars as I am. For that privilege, I am eternally grateful.

These are the guitars that the great Tommy Emmanuel peforms with.
The Maton name is a derivative of the words “May” and “Tone”.
Until the mid 1930s an Australian guitar manufacturing industry was virtually nonexistent. Good quality guitars were hard to find and at this time the best guitars came from the U.S.A. Bill May, a Melbourne-born jazz musician, woodwork teacher and luthier decided to change all that.
During the early 1940s Bill established a custom guitar manufacturing and repair business known as “Maton Stringed Instruments and Repairs”. This enterprise was so successful that Bill was able to convince his older brother, Reg, to join him as a full time guitar maker and in March 1946 the “Maton Musical Instruments Company” was born.
Maton is still a 100% family owned Australian company, now operated by Linda & Neville Kitchen (Bill May's daughter and son in law). Showing great faith in the potential of the company, Bill opened up Australia's first major guitar making facility in Canterbury, Melbourne, in 1949. More than 300 different models were created at the Canterbury factory, a staggering testimony to the creativity of the Maton team from that era.

( from listing's site ) - My life has been about music and wood. I started playing the guitar when I was twelve years old and fell in love with it. In my twenties, I began working in wood as a carpenter, house builder, and cabinetmaker. About 15 years ago I began to merge these passions and became a luthier. I build guitars, both acoustic and resophonic, ukuleles, and some special stringed instruments of my own design.

Info
(from Andy Powers's site) - Andy Powers grew up in a music-loving family in Oceanside, California. At the age of five Andy, the son of a carpenter and his artist wife, had his first workbench and shortly thereafter began playing piano. Andy took up playing the guitar when he was eight. In a house where musical instruments, tools and wood were all readily available, curiosity got the better of him and he began his first attempts at building guitars before the age of ten. With design and sound refinement the instruments began to improve tremendously, and Andy began selling the instruments to customers while he was still a teenager. Having been encouraged by his parents to pursue the arts, he began to explore the world of traditional inlayed art, using his instruments as a canvas.

As a teen living in Nazareth, I became fiercely inspired by meeting many of Martin’s finest craftsmen. My desire to learn how to make guitars became a reality after my introduction to Dick Boak. In the ensuing years Dick and I renovated the “Church of Art” in the center of Nazareth, and we built many unique experimental instruments. In addition to being Dick’s residence, the “Church of Art” was a guitar studio, concert hall and art gallery. It was a great inspiration to me while I was perfecting my craft as a luthier. This is where I constructed my first guitar in the mid ‘70s. Though he doesn’t reside there any more, Dick still owns the “Church,” and I presently teach my archtop design and construction classes there.
